But Ranthambore is so much more. It is a very popular destination and attracts lots of tourists. Once it was a private hunting place for royal families of Jaipur. Now it is a national park which has many forms of wildlife. 

Located in between Aravallis and Vindyas, Ranthambore is a huge wilderness area. It offers some of the best tiger sightings in the country. Other than the forest and wildlife, Ranthambore also consists of small rivers and lakes. And then there is the Ranthambore Fort. It is a very impressive structure even now. The Surwal Lake is one of the biggest tourist attractions inside the park. 

Although most people go to Ranthambore to visit tigers, it is not the only form of wildlife present there. There are also sloth bears, caracal, mongoose, jackal, hyenas and leopards. Other animals include chital deer, sambhar deer, langur, nilgai, crocodiles, eagle, King Vulture and spotted deer. All of these animals live inside the park.

Park Timings

The Ranthambore National Park is open from the months of October to June. It is easily accessible from Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur. There are accommodation options for every type of budget and you can have a comfortable stay.

Types of Safari

There are two types of tiger safari inside the park. There is Jeep Safari and there is Canter Safari. A canter is an open bus which can seat 20 people.The jeeps can seat 6 people. Two safaris take place every day inside the park.

The safari routes are fixed. The best way to explore the park is by taking a jeep safari. All jeep safaris are accompanied by trained forest guides.

Things to Remember for Booking Safari

  • Safari fees are to be paid in advance
  • ID proof is a must
  • Confirmed bookings cannot be canceled
  • If you cancel your booking for any reason, you won’t get a refund
  • You can book a safari up to 3 months in advance
  • You cannot transfer the booking to anyone else
  • All foreign tourists have to submit their passport details
  • Bookings are done on first come, first serve basis
  • You must carry the ID proof which you provided for booking the safari
  • The park may close without prior notice
  • Please report 15 minutes before the safari starts
  • We are not responsible for accidents, injuries or thefts which might occur during the safari

 

Park Timings:

The park’s opening time and closing time depends on the sunrise and sunset. It usually opens half an hour before sunrise and closes half an hour before sunset. The timings of sunset and sunrise differ according to seasons. The opening and closing time of the park differ accordingly. 

It is recommended to book in advance because weekends and holidays experience heavy booking rush. The morning safari starts half an hour after the sun rises. The afternoon safari ends half an hour before the sun sets. This is why safari timings change depending on the season. The maximum time taken by each safari is three and a half hours.
